Karen Elizabeth Hinckley’s passion for sewing was stirred by a 6th grade home economics project. Needless to say, she has come a long way after that first octagon calico print smock top, complete with bell sleeves, empire bodice, and sash tie.
After graduating from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Fashion Merchandising and Retail Sales, Karen held many career positions, but her heart was always in sewing. She held the position of “Band Uniform Mom” for 7 years while her children were in high school, skillfully performing all alterations, flag making, and guard costuming. Now that her children have graduated, Karen has decided to turn her passion into a business.
“The name for the business is family driven. I am the third generation middle name Elizabeth. My maternal grandmother was Blanche Elizabeth (I), my mom was Louise Elizabeth (II) and I am Karen Elizabeth (III).” — Karen Elizabeth Hinckley
